US Tariffs - Important information
Update - October 7th 2025
We're sorry but we have had to suspend shipping to the US for now. The processing of tariffs by logistics companies seems to be causing chaos: customers are not being informed of tariffs due, parcels are being returned to us with no explanation, other parcels are simply 'disappearing', tracking information is being lost, etc. We have made the decision to suspend shipping to the US until the situation stabilises. We will process any existing orders, or refund customers as needed. If you would like more information please contact us directly by email or phone.
End of update
As of August 29th 2025 the US has ended the 'de minimis' exemption for imports under $800 entering the US. Prior to this, orders below this value that were ordered online and shipped to the US were not subject to customs duties or other taxation.
From August 29th, all parcels entering the US will be charged a duty according to the tariff rate imposed by the US on the country of origin. For Ireland, as Ireland is part of the EU, this is 15%.
The US has stipulated that the tariff duty must be collected and paid to US Customs prior to the parcel being shipped to the US. To comply with this, our carrier An Post (the Irish postal service) once they receive a package from us destined for the US, will email the end customer with a request for payment of the tariff due. Once this charge is paid, the parcel will ship onwards to the US. If this charge is not paid, the parcel will be returned to the Burren Perfumery.
We regret that our US customers are being faced with this additional cost.
